Whether you’re getting the kids out of the house, catching up with friends or keeping up with healthy habits, the Saturday Fresh Market is the ideal addition to your weekend ritual.
Catching up with friends
Evette and Ceri travel over 45 minutes from Gleneagle and Jimboomba to spend some quality time with each other.
“We come to the Saturday Fresh Market every single Saturday to catch up over a coffee and some shopping,” they said.
“It gives us time out together, but also gives us the opportunity to get fresh fruit, vegetables and meat for the week.”
Maria and Mary took advantage of a weekend together to have a market outing.
“It’s such a huge market and being undercover is so good, it means you can come rain or shine,” they said.
“We don’t have anything like this on the north side of Brisbane, so we are happy to travel. Mary loves coming to the market regularly, she loves all the plants and has bought so many from here!”
Keeping healthy habits
For Nicole from Eight Mile Plains, a trip to the Saturday Fresh Market is all about supporting the local community and keeping up with healthy habits.
“I shop at the Saturday Fresh Market because I prefer to buy from local stallholders and the produce is so much fresher ,” Nicole said.
“I come every Saturday morning to get all my groceries and then I go home and meal prep for the week.”
Rhonda from Oxley uses her market purchases to make her daily salads and juices.
“I love very fresh fruit and vegetables, the prices are better than at the shops and you can tell it’s all so fresh.
“The new venue is lovely and much easier to move around than across the road. It is more orderly and is protected from the elements,” Rhonda said.
Vandra travels from Cornubia every month to attend the Saturday Fresh Market.
“I love all the fresh produce and plants, plus I always have breakfast while I’m here,” she said.
“I enjoy the ambience and it’s nice to see people out and about, eating plenty of fresh fruit and vegetables.”
Occupying the kids
Suganiya from Sinnamon Park, who attends with her children Taj and Tia, said that the ambience makes the Saturday Fresh Market a great outing for the kids.
“It is very interactive for children; they love spotting all the animal ornaments hidden around the market, the team have done a lot to create a really great atmosphere here” Suganiya said.
“We love all the different varieties of fruit and vegetables, and Taj loves the food trucks.”
For Kate from Morningside, a visit to the Saturday Fresh Market is a great way to get out of the house with baby Charlie.
“I haven’t visited for a while and it’s great to be back, I love it here because I can find good quality fresh produce at half the price,” Kate said.
