Brisbane Produce Report

12 June 2026

There is no time like the present to enjoy fresh, seasonal fruit and vegetables packed with essential vitamins, minerals and antioxidants to help support health and wellbeing during the winter months. For a variety of fresh, quality, Australian-grown produce, visit your local independent fruit and vegetable store displaying the A better choice! logo.

This week’s pick of the week is Navel Oranges from Gayndah. Supply is abundant and quality is excellent. Navel Oranges are rich in vitamin C, fibre and potassium, while remaining low in calories. When selecting, choose fruit that is firm and heavy for its size, with smooth skin and a fresh fragrance. Avoid fruit with soft spots, as this can affect the quality of the fruit. Navel Oranges will keep in a bowl at room temperature for up to a week. For longer storage, refrigerate them, and if storing at room temperature, keep them out of direct sunlight.

Crimson Seedless Grapes from Victoria are in good supply this week and are the perfect winter snack. These sweet, juicy, seedless Grapes are a delightful treat; with their crisp texture and juicy bite, they are delicious straight off the vine and make a great addition to a party platter. For a fun idea, try Grape Kebabs as a simple crowd‑pleaser.

North Queensland-grown Hass Avocados continue to be in good supply, which is great news for the lovers of smashed Avocado on toast. Packed with more potassium than Bananas, and heart-healthy fats that help the body absorb key nutrients, Hass Avocados can make a great winter breakfast even tastier. Try Eggs in Avocado, a simple, protein-rich dish ideal for chilly mornings.

Zucchinis from Bundaberg and Far North Queensland are in great supply this week, and you know what that means — excellent value! A versatile vegetable, Zucchini’s are perfect when trying to get kids to eat more green vegetables as they can be easily snuck into a spaghetti bolognese or fritters for picky eaters. Choose one that feels heavy, has smooth dark green skin and one with a good chunk of the stem attached, as it will last longer.

Finally, red Sweet Potatoes from Bundaberg are in abundant supply this week, with the quality outstanding. Whether roasted, mashed, steamed, barbecued, baked or fried, red Sweet Potatoes offer a subtle earthiness that is less sweet than orange or gold Sweet Potatoes, with a richer, slightly more savoury taste.

Remember to continue shopping at your local, independent fruit and vegetable store displaying the A better choice! logo, where there is a variety of quality, fresh produce sourced through the Brisbane Markets, Queensland’s Heart of Fresh Produce.
