When selecting your Kent Pumpkin, look for a heavy fruit with a dull, dark-green skin featuring rich yellow-brown patches, a hard woody rind that resists a thumbnail, and a dry, corky stem. Keep them stored in a cool, dark, and dry place with good airflow, and avoid putting them on the floor where they could absorb moisture from these surfaces. Perfect for adding to soups, stir-fries, or roasted with a twist, Carrots are high in nutrients, fibre and antioxidants, making them the perfect health food. Their sweet, mild and earthy flavour make them the perfect companion for any protein, but you cannot beat roast chicken with beautifully roasted Carrots on the side.
If you are tossing up between serving Potatoes or Carrots with a meal, why not meet in the middle and plate up some Parsnip, fresh from Victoria and Western Australia. High in potassium and vitamin C, Parsnip is the perfect ingredient for soups, casseroles, stews and various savoury dishes.
