17 January

Summer is the perfect time for fresh, vibrant produce, as the warmer weather brings an abundance of delicious fruits and vegetables from growers to our wholesalers at the Brisbane Markets. The summer season offers a bounty of flavours that are at their peak. It’s the season to enjoy nature’s best and what better way to do that than with a visit to your A Better Choice! retailer, where you will find top-quality fruit and veggies that are not only great value but as fresh as you can get.

Our pick of the week this week is a summertime favourite, Pineapple. These Queensland classics from Wamuran are in full swing and the quality is superb! Prickly, but oh-so-sweet, these tropical treats are a must-have this week. Whether you’re a fan of Pineapple on pizza or not, you can’t go wrong with these Mini Pineapple Pizzas, which are quick, easy, and bursting with flavour. If you’re in the mood for something different, try a Pineapple and Chicken Stir Fry—it’s loaded with healthy veggies and naturally sweetened by the Pineapple. Yum!

If it is value you are after, then look no further than a bunch of Menindee Green Grapes from New South Wales. Supply at present is fantastic and the quality is excellent. Only available for a short time, these juicy Grapes will burst with sweetness and are the perfect snack or addition to a fruit salad or dessert.

Just as green and just as juicy are the Limes from Mareeba. These juicy, tangy gems are still in season, and supply is plentiful. Their vibrant flavour and colour make them perfect for dishes like Lime Chicken with Mango Salsa, guaranteed to tickle your tastebuds!

We are also issuing a summer snack alert: White and Yellow Nectarines from South Australia are hitting the shelves, and they taste even better when you get them at a great price. Not only are they a delicious treat, but they’re packed with health benefits for your heart, skin, and gut.

If Capsicums are in your regular shop, then this week we have some of the biggest and brightest Red and Green Capsicums from Stanthorpe and South Australia at the Brisbane Markets. These vibrant veggies are a nutrient powerhouse, great for boosting immunity. Looking for some inspiration? Head over to the A Better Choice! website for some creative ways to enjoy Capsicums.

Wombok or Chinese cabbage, is thriving in Stanthorpe’s growing conditions right now. Grab a bunch with crisp leaves for maximum crunch. Whether you shred it for a salad or throw it on a burger, Wombok is a crunchy, delicious addition to any meal, is great value, and nice substitute if you are looking to shake things up in the kitchen.

And don’t forget the fresh, fabulously priced Green Shallots this week. They’re perfect for adding a sweet, mild flavour to just about anything. Feeling adventurous? Combine the Wombok and Shallots for homemade dumplings—such a fun and tasty way to enjoy these summer staples!
