Cooler seasonal fruit and vegetables are now in full swing, with harvests making their way through the Brisbane Markets and into your local fruit and veg shop. Save on your groceries this week by shopping for Autumn produce that’s in great supply and affordably priced.

Broccoli from Gatton is our pick of the week, with consistent quality and freshness. Prices have come down, making it a great time to cook with this versatile vegetable. For a delicious snack, check out this recipe for Air-fried Broccoli and Corn Cheese Balls.

Winter vegetables from the Lockyer Valley are all growing well at the moment, so you can expect to see great prices on things like Cauliflower, Shallots, Iceberg Lettuce and Kent Pumpkin all coming out of Gatton.

Hass Avocado from Bundaberg are abundant and affordably priced, as the Hass season is now in full swing. Make the most of this healthy, creamy treat by making this Avocado Hummus with Spiced Maple Macadamias.

Growing well in Bundaberg and North Queensland, Eggplant is coming through the Markets with a steady supply, so you should have no trouble finding this purple produce in your local fruit and veg shop.

Pineapples from all over Queensland are plentiful, with vibrant yellow flesh and a sweet, tropical flavour. They are great eating and priced to be enjoyed.

North Queensland Limes are in good supply. The fruit is bright green, juicy, and packed with flavour, making it an ideal time to purchase this citrus staple.

Watermelon from North Queensland is currently abundant, featuring deep red, juicy flesh and a refreshing sweet taste. Want to try something different? This Watermelon, Rockmelon and Goat’s Cheese Salad is full of fresh and contrasting flavours.

Coming from the southern states, Victorian and New South Wales grown Navel Oranges are in season and good supply. As the weather turns cooler, this citrus fruit is a great source of vitamin C, fibre and potassium.
