Brisbane Produce Report

6 February 2026

The Brisbane Markets are bursting at the seams with an array of seasonal favourites, providing a colourful assortment of fresh produce for the shelves of local independent fruit and vegetable stores that display the A better choice! logo. Enjoy a large range of fresh, quality produce all while supporting local businesses and growers from across Australia.

Our pick of the week is Cherry Tomatoes. With all Tomato varieties in abundance, Cherry Tomatoes are a favourite this week due to their fantastic value and, of course, pleasant taste. A good Cherry Tomato should be richly coloured, plump and firm, and have a smooth and glossy skin. Also, the better they smell, the tastier they will be when eating. Hailing from Tomato growers in Bundaberg, Bowen, New South Wales, Victoria, and South Australia, they are perfect for snacking, and their sweetness makes them perfect for roasting and salad toppers. Roma, Truss, Cherry Truss, and Gourmet are also plentiful this week, so there are many options for Bruschetta and Caprese enthusiasts.

Now that you have Tomatoes added to your grocery list, add some Baby Spinach to your trolley this week to make a delicious salad. Growers in Victoria are providing the Brisbane Markets with plenty of Baby Spinach. A storage tip is to put the Baby Spinach in the fridge in an airtight bag to keep the leaves fresh and avoid wilting.

If you are looking for something different to incorporate into your breakfast, lunch, and dinner this week, then Bundaberg-grown Gold Sweet Potatoes are a great choice. Sweet Potato is not just a dinner plate staple but can go a long way if you are a meal prep fanatic. Why not try Sweet Potato Pancakes or a Sweet Potato Salad?

Another juicy gem in abundance is Cherries from Tasmania. With Cherries still in season, there is nothing like enjoying the last moments of summer by having a (very large) bowl of Cherries to indulge in. To select the perfect bunch of Cherries, look for ones that are plump and dark red in colour for the ultimate taste of summer.

Our final highlight this week is Achacha. Never heard of Achachas? They are cousins of Mangosteens, Longans, Rambutans, and Lychees. If you are a fan of one of those, then Achachas may well be for you! They have a sweet and unique taste, are about the size of a golf ball and have a deep yellow and orange coloured skin. They are only usually in season for about one month of the year, so get in quick before they are done for the year. To eat an Achacha, pierce the skin and squeeze it gently, and it should pop open. Peel around the top half of the fruit, pull out the flesh with your teeth and look out for the seed inside!

So, look for the A better choice! logo at your local independent fruit and vegetable store, knowing that the fresh produce on the shelves has been sourced from thousands of Australian growers through the Brisbane Markets.
