After a lengthy process of detailed design development, obtaining BCC Development Application approval and finalising a tender process, construction of the proposed new 6,300m2 J.H. Leavy & Co. warehouse is set to commence.
This state-of-the-art warehouse will feature ripening rooms, a disinfestation facility, cold rooms, nine loading docks, two finger docks and modern office areas.
BML’s proposed investment in this new facility was previously highlighted to shareholders in the Prospectus issued by the company in July 2018.
The $19.5 million project will facilitate further expansion by the Darling Group, through its subsidiary J.H. Leavy & Co., with the building to be the company’s Australian marketing, warehousing and distribution base.
SBP Australia has been contracted to construct the building. SBP is due to take possession of the site on Monday 9 September 2019, with construction expected to be completed by August 2020.
The new warehouse will be located on the corner of Sherwood Road and Martin Taylor Drive.
This is a further exciting project which supports the role of the Brisbane Markets as Queensland’s major wholesale marketing and distribution hub for fresh produce.
