Brisbane’s traditional celebration of the Australian mango season returns, when this year’s first symbolic tray of mangoes goes under the hammer at the Brisbane Markets Mango Auction on Thursday, 17 September 2026.
A highlight of the Brisbane Markets calendar for more than two decades, the annual Mango Auction hosted by Brismark and Brisbane Markets Limited, celebrates the arrival of the first symbolic tray of mangoes for the season while raising vital funds for charity.
Since its inception in 2002, the event has raised more than $1.2 million for Queensland charities, making it one of the fresh produce industry’s most successful annual fundraising events.
Brismark Chief Executive Officer and Brisbane Markets Limited Managing Director and CEO Andrew Young said the Mango Auction was an important event for both the Brisbane Markets community and the charities it supports.
“The Brisbane Markets Mango Auction is one of our most anticipated events of the year. It brings our industry and wider community together to celebrate the arrival of mango season while raising much-needed funds for two remarkable charities,” Mr Young said.
“Every bid, raffle ticket purchased, and donation helps make a genuine difference, and we are proud of what the Brisbane Markets community has achieved together over more than two decades.”
From 7am, guests can enjoy a morning of entertainment, charity raffles, a sausage sizzle, and an exciting line-up of donated auction items, before the highly anticipated auction of the symbolic first tray of mangoes, where one successful bidder will earn the coveted title of 2026 Mango Monarch.
This year’s proceeds will support Redkite and The Lady Musgrave Trust, helping provide practical support to families facing childhood cancer and young women experiencing or at risk of homelessness.
Early signs are looking promising for this year’s mango season, with favourable weather conditions across Australia’s major growing regions providing confidence for another quality harvest.
