The start of a new year is a great time to review essential policies and procedures. It is an opportunity to make sure they are up to date for your current business circumstances, and that all employees have received suitable training.

Documented Emergency Procedures are a critical component of operating a business safely.
Brisbane Markets Limited (BML) reminds all Tenants of their direct responsibility for developing, implementing and maintaining emergency procedures and evacuation plans tailored to their own businesses and workplace areas.
This also extends to providing training to staff on these procedures and ensuring they understand the steps to take in the event of an emergency.
In addition, it is also a Tenants’ responsibility to ensure their own emergency procedures align with the Brisbane Markets Emergency Procedures Manual (the Manual), which outlines how to respond to emergency situations including fire, chemical spill, gas leak, bomb threat, civil disturbance, medical emergency and any other incident that endangers or compromises human life or safety.
The Manual also provides a guide to evacuation procedures which must be displayed in a prominent area of all Tenancies.
It is very important that all Tenants and their employees are familiar with the Manual and their own Emergency Procedures, and understand the correct process to follow if there is an emergency on site.
Thank you to all Markets Tenants for their cooperation in actively managing and reviewing their emergency procedures for their workplace and helping to protect the safety and wellbeing of everyone on site.
